IPS continues to expand service capabilities, coverage, and distribution with the acquisition of leading electrical equipment and service provider.
(Greenville, SC — February 2, 2023) IPS, a North American leader in single-source solutions for industrial and commercial power and mechanical processes, has acquired Southland Electrical Group, a leading Power Management service provider. The Southland Group comprises seven discrete businesses: Southland Electrical Supply, Mid-South Electrical Supply, Industrial Panel Company, Southland Automation, South East Switchgear, Southland Electrical Rentals, and Charter Contact and Supply.
Southland has facilities across four cities in the Southeastern United States, including headquarters and locations in Burlington, North Carolina; and locations in Birmingham, Alabama; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and High Point, North Carolina.
Southland is a second-generation, family-owned company focused on power distribution equipment and low-voltage motor control systems. Founded in 1987, Southland has been a trusted provider of power solutions to customers in the industrial, commercial, electrical utility, and water/wastewater markets for over five decades.
The acquisition expands IPS’s power management business with industry-leading engineered power solutions, electrical asset distribution sales, and technical field service teams to better serve clients across the Southeast United States and North America.
“Today is a significant milestone for all of us at Southland. We are joining the fastest-growing power management and electromechanical solutions provider in the country to become part of Integrated Power Services (IPS). This partnership will allow us to provide expanded world-class products and services for our customers, which will continue to grow our leadership position in the market. Equally important is the opportunity for our team members to become part of a rapidly growing IPS organization. When we set out on this course, we committed to carefully selecting a partner with a similar approach to business and people. We found IPS to be an ideal fit for our company culture, mission, and values,” said Mike Griggs, President of Southland.
“We are humbled and grateful for the hard work and dedication our team members put into the last several decades while building Southland Group. I could not be prouder of our team. I know our best-in-class technical capabilities, steadfast vision, high energy, and customer dedication will contribute tremendously to the IPS offerings, and we look forward to fostering an amazing partnership. As we have since 1987, we will do this together as a team and I look forward to the exciting days ahead,” said Griggs.
“Southland is a strategic and important acquisition for IPS’s customer offering. It brings to IPS a knowledgeable people talent base with expertise to solve power management reliability challenges experienced by customers across a broad spectrum of end markets and geographies,” said John Zuleger, IPS President and CEO. “The remarkable company the Griggs family built over nearly five decades now joins IPS’s North American network. With this addition, IPS continues its Power Management service expansion which, when added to Electromechanical services, enables us to respond, rethink, and resolve reliability challenges few providers are able to address.”
